Energy efficiency of luminaires
With energy-efficient lighting, the energy consumption of an installation can be reduced by as much as 82 percent – cutting costs and boosting lighting quality for users. A dedicated energy classification system is planned for luminaires, like the ones already in place for lamps and ballasts.
Although power consumption is due mainly to lamps and the electrical equipment used to operate them, quality luminaires also make a difference in the quest for high efficiency. They do this through:
- optimised optical control
- a high light output ratio
- good glare limitation
- easy maintenance.
