Good automotive lighting – for optimal visibility
One in three traffic accidents happen at night – even though there are five times fewer vehicles on the roads than during the day. So good automotive lighting is clearly as important as an effective braking system. Quality headlight lamps ensure that the motorist can see well and be clearly seen.
In recent years, the lighting industry has developed systems and technologies that deliver powerful, economical lighting for greater safety and comfort. From original equipment to spare parts and retrofit kits – certified brand products guarantee your safety on the roads at all times. We look at the key issues about automotive lighting:
Lighting as a safety factor
Rain, fog, darkness – poor visibility is one of the commonest causes of accidents. It tires even young eyes faster. So efficient vehicle lighting is particularly important – for greater active and passive safety.

Test performance of automotive lamps: Quality leads the field
Only brand products are safe. That is the verdict of Karlsruhe University's Lighting Technology Institute (LTIK). Scientists there tested 100 conventional H7 halogen headlight lamps and found that budget-priced lamps had a failure rate of 81%, earning them a "poor" rating.

Lamp types for automobiles
Whenever headlights are mentioned, automotive lamps are meant at the same time – because they are the components that provide the light. Whether halogen or xenon, the small glass bulbs are high-performance high-tech products. Modern headlights today are also fitted with LED solutions.
Daytime running lights
Daytime running lights (DRLs) have long been mandatory in Scandinavia. Anyone driving with their lights on contributes demonstrably to greater safety on the roads – even during the day. The EU takes the same view and has therefore decided that all new vehicle models from 2011 onwards have to be fitted with DRLs.
