Hypersculptures

Light Art XXL: New Temporary Exhibition in Unna

In its new temporary exhibition Hypersculptures, the Centre for International Light Art in Unna is showing light sculptures, that fill a whole room. The oversized works are literally "hyper": each work fills a space of 20 by 6 metres. There has always been a great expressive power in exceeding normal dimensions, which the artists make use of.

On view until 30 April 2023 are a textile sculpture by New Yorker Christine Sciulli, a colour-intensive, walk-in installation by the international artist group Squidsoup based in Great Britain, the work "Lichtquadrat" (Light Square) by German Julius Stahl and an audio-visual kinetic composition by Dutchman Philip Vermeulen. A permanent installation by the Dutch artist Giny Vos is located on the museum forecourt: a large glass cube whose interior consists of a total of 57,600 LEDs and shows processes that take place under the influence of light.
