Saving energy: Consumers increasingly rethink their own actions

ZVEI consumer survey shows high savings potential in the home

Consumers are aware of the need to save energy. This is the result of the survey conducted in August 2022 by the German Electrical and Digital Manufacturers' Association (ZVEI). Around 80 percent of respondents say the topic of energy consumption is more important to them than it was at the beginning of the year. The reason is the increased energy prices, according to 97 percent of the respondents.

Out of the room, lights off
So far, however, the increased awareness has only partially been expressed in concrete behavioural changes: Around two-thirds of those surveyed have not yet adjusted their behaviour compared to the beginning of the year. Many people find it easy to do so when it comes to lighting: 71 percent turn off the lights when they leave the room. Half of the respondents have switched from conventional light bulbs to LEDs. The majority of participants (75 percent) see further opportunities to save energy in their personal environment.
